Syringe Filters

Syringe filters are used for removing particles such as bacteria from a liquid sample before carrying out some sort of analysis. The products vary depending on the pore size, type of filter material, capacity of the filter with much effective filtration area and the volume that remains in the filter subsequent to filtration. The pore size ranges from 0.2 um to 0.45 um. Syringe filters are made up of materials such as polyethersulfone, cellulose acetate, and polyamide. The filter material has an impact on the effective filtration area and show variation in the filter capacity. The diameter of the syringe filter varies between 4 mm and 25 mm. Syringe filters find its applications in general filtration, binding studies, cytology, gas filtration, sterilization of strong solvents or acids, for removing particles in analytical applications such as High performance liquid chromatography.
